Whoa Nelly!

Did you happen to see the Senate confirmation of Condoleeza Rice yesterday?
Senator Barbara Boxer lives up to her name and some! She raked Condoleeza Rice over the hot ones, pointing out on paper, many of Condoleeza's statements over the past 4 years, demonstrating a clear pattern of lying to the public and manipulating the public's views on the war in Iraq.

I seem to remember her name already because my Dad respected her very much, and I, my Dad. Now, I see why he was an admireror of Boxer's; Takes no BS, makes no excuses, doesn't seem to compromise when it comes to truth and accountability.

I've never seen any such confirmation, or such an exchange in American politics before. If it hadn't had such great coverage, I probably would've missed it.

Boxer seemed to me some kind of Hero, speaking alongside a whole host of other hero's who must be her staff, because not only was she seriously prepared, she was well supported, administratively. I could just imagine off camera chaos, pencils snapping, urgent whispers, tablets flipping, as Condoleeza made comments like
The Tsunami was a great opportunity for us.
Search boxes armed and ready, laptops buzzing, the Republican's were on fire behind Barbara Boxer, and she was able to pull out the documents from which Condoleeza Rice quoted, and actually read hunks of text deflecting or deflating Condoleeza's arguments. Boxer wisely gave credit where credit was due, even thanking Rice for her beautiful words regarding the numbers of suffering troops and their loved ones.

Beyond the drama of it all, Ms. Rice's dangerous countenance, and Boxers hard left hook, I was aware I was watching history unfold, these hearings, have ushered in the next four years of the world stage. And I for one, was happy to hear Boxer speak.

  1. I agree -- it was history unfolding, seeing these two powerful women spar...... Barbara Boxer is a woman I totally admire.
