Moonthly Magic

I’ve long known my menstrual cycle follows the cycle of the moon, but since I began actively journaling my art and poetry I’ve noticed something else.
My creative cycle nearly matches my menstrual cycle. Cool hey?
My peak out puts flow (literally) around the same time my period does.

I recognized a pattern while going through my work in chronological fashion.

I began noticing the dates of most activity, and of my most satisfying pieces of art and text. I went back month after month after month and viola there it was, the pattern. I seem to have a window of two or three days a month of peak creative activity. This window drifts over the months in step with my period, and the phases of the moon. I was all like, “Eureka! Now I can plan in advance so I can ensure I have a enough down time to manage the outflow!”

Exciting times, exciting times.
