I've been working on my Uta Tulu story now since about 10:00 am this morning. Barely breaking for nourishment. Ge's bored to tears and gotten into the rum. He's off to the store to pick up a couple of gars, and I'm about to get off the writing jag for the evening.
I accomplished a lot more today than I expected to, which is a bonus because as it stands I'm 10,402 words behind where I should be at this point in the game.
I spent most of my time this week researching, plotting, planning, and sketching which I hope will pay off in the long run. I know NaNoMo is about quantity (50,000words eeek!) not quality. But without those skeletal underpinnings I just end up blowing all over the place, never coming to climax let alone conclusion.
Today I was able to complete plotting each scene of the novel from beginning to end and flesh out my story by over 1,000 words bringing my grand total to 2,098.
To complete a 50,000 word volume of work I need to write at least 12,500 words a week! This means this first week of the contest I fell short by 10,402 words. If I hope to finish in time I need to write at least 15,967.333 words each week for the next three weeks! While its doubtful I can pull it off, my current strategy is to go through the plot one "chunk" at a time and flesh it out.
For the first time ever, I can be as verbiose as I could possibly want, it'll only help me in the long run nail as many itsy bitysy words as I can into the manuscript, with the hopes I just might limp across the finish line with a complete, if not comprehensive tale of two streams.
On the more positive side, this process is helping me complete my homework essay due mid month on which process I prefer; writing intuitively from start to finish or by employing formulaic techniques such as plotting, preparing character sketches and writting synopsis to write the story. So far I'm leaning on the side of formulaic processes.
