I wrote my first song

It's a slow bluesy gospel type. A Dirge.

I wrote it the day after I returned from the hospital, Gee picked up his guitar and the thin tune I laid down and created a great melody.

My voice doesn't do what I want it to do, but I know a woman who's voice might be up to the challenge, she indicated she'd like to sing it so, guess we'll be having a good camping season this summer, singing by the fire and all.

My Baby's gone

My Baby's gone
Down the River, Nevermore.

My Baby's gone
Back to the garden, He come from.

My Baby's gone.

I paid the man
two crooked coins of gold
To take him down.

Down the River, Nevermore.

My Baby's gone.

Left His name
Scrawled across my breast

Left His voice
Beating in my chest

Cold Comforts
Empty Arms
My Baby's Gone.

Called my Mamma
From over there

She came down by moon-beam
To my side

Caught Him to her
In gossamer, My Baby
Took him home,
Down the River, Nevermore.

Called my Papa
From over there

He came down on a spray of sunshine
Warmed my face with kisses
Turned me round,
Sent me back.

My baby's gone,
Down the River, Nevermore

And this heart of mine
aches Evermore
Forevermore, what is Nevermore

My baby's gone.
