Life (working composition.)

Been rather reluctant to sit down and post. Been less reflective and more researchive lately (if that can even be considered a word).

I've developed anemia, so am very tired, more so than usual.
It's easier to soak up than to pour out right now. Am being treated with iron pills and vitamins and going for yet more blood tests.

It's likely due to my hemorraging, but may be related to something else. A transfusion is suposed to be a cure for it, but I've just had two so... I've got my doubts. Fortunately nothing too severe. I look forward to getting back to normal, but the pharmacist told me not to expect normal metobolism for another two months. Yikes! That's a long time to feel weak.

Anyway I've been working on a new composition.

I call it Life

It is of a woman swimming up-a-river ofwater like light to catch an angelic baby in her arms. They are smiling and blowing bubbles at each other.

It is the image I had during a meditation I did shortly after I returned home. More on that in another entry.

So far I have a number of sketches, the woman, the baby, both of them, cut outs and I've begun a canvas and ink rendering. I'll probably do a few more before I get it just right.
There is something of the ancient Mayan artifact The Pacal Sarcophagus Panel, only flipped so the woman is looking to the right rather than the left side of the panel.

While looking for an image to show as an example I read the meaning behind it I found the above comercial site, with a modern translation of the sarcophagus. I was already familiar with the urban legend that it depicted an ancient astronaut as propounded by Erick von Daniken in his book Chariots of the gods. Since the 60's much has been learned about the Mayan language. I had a little smile at the true rendition of the image.

I wasn't sure if I should downplay the resemblence to the deceased posture or not, after reading this, I think I'll emphasize it. :)

The woman, I love, she's been peeking in and out of my sketches (and at least one painting) for some time. There is a bit of Beauty in her, but she's younger, darker well not so much as darker, but with higher contrast. She is shadow and light, while Beauty is dazzle and sight.
