unfinished moon spider entry

t's quite amazing to me, how a daydream has become so solidified.
Last year, I whimsically thought I would like to write 33 poems in honour of the thirty three years I've spent on earth.

Today, I have over 40 poems and 180 original images.
but only 30 I am willing to publish at this time. This leaves me three final poems to complete which works out perfectly. I have three sections to the book, it also turns out I could use a really strong closing poem for each chapter. These last three poems couldn't have been written before I began pulling together the manuscript. So as usual, everything works out in time.

Back at age 28 I had a waking vision, the only one I've ever had.
It was a terrifying blessing.

I looked up at the night sky, and saw the moon divide into four equal parts. I rubbed my eyes and asked my husband where that bright lamp came from. He looked where I was pointing and said honey, that's the moon. I blinked and rubbed my eyes again, the moon appeared to me as if divided. Then something really amazing happend. A giant spider crawled into place on the moon. At this point I was walking in the forrest with my husband, I kept looking away from the sky, hoping when I looked back, the spider would be gone. No dice.

So I gave in, I stood in one spot and just stared. The spider crawled out of place, and in its stead flames sprang up. Orange and yellow and purple flames, the moon was on fire! It was beautiful. As I stood and watched this kalaidoscope of colour in the sky, I realised I wasn't looking at flame at all, but petals! The moon wasn't on fire! It was in bloom! From the center came trillions of new petals as if spiraling outwards from a central point. There was constant movement of petal and spiral, then the spider returned. I watched this dance for a few rotations and it came to me, the spider had something to teach me, the lotus was my reward.

At that point I went home and began researching everything I could about lotus imagery (easy peasy) and the spider (not so easy).
