Woman Rescued

My mother was instrumental in rescuing a captive woman recently.

It’s taken me a while to be able to write about it. But it is an important thing to write about.

By chance, my mother was dining in a local cafe, a woman broken and bleeding burst in through the door and just started to wail. My mother recognized trauma when she saw it. Trained as a nurse, my mom went right into care mode, as luck (or angels) would have it, there was an entire table of paramedics in the restaurant at the time. The woman described a similar story as I've already heard 1/2 a dozen times personally. She had been under this man's thumb for years. Routinely assaulted, drugged, the man decided that day was the day she was going to die.

My mother noticed she could barely walk due to her old injuries. (Her nose had been broken, her skull fractured, ribs, etc. healed over and broken again type of old injuries.) The woman confirmed this and said she could scarcely believe she was able to run at all. Pure adrenaline. Someone who’s beaten you to the near point of death in the past tells you “This time honey, you die”, You run, or you die.

The police came. The man was so arrogant, he didn't even flee the scene, but paced out side the restaurant window threatening this woman while smoking cigarettes!

She's now in hospital, and will likely remain there for a while.

I'll write more later.
