courage my love
(this one is dedicated to my mom)
I had an image I wanted to get down fast before it faded, so I did this digital sketch. The image itself was Inspired by a family story (The brave girl and the Lion) + a tarot card(sacred rose deck, stength)+the name of my favorite ***kennsington market store + a hatha yoga mantra "Mritjungjai" meaning victory in courage. There is a breathing excercise and pose that goes with the mantra.
If you wanna try it, it takes no time at all and has an immediate effect on the nervous system.
It comes highly recomended to do this on your own the first few times, you'll see what I mean...
be carefull though, this one is a real head buzz!
MRIT-JUNG-JAI (sounds like: mreet Yoong jay)
Pose:
the LION, (of course)
1) basically you kneel, placing your hands on your knees,
2)make your hands like claws.
3) this is the fun part! open your mouth really wide, drop your jaw, and stick out your tongue, they say to the bottom of your chin, (must be Yoga by Gene Simmons.)
4) breathe out, hard so you hear a hushing along the back of your throat, (it resembles the sound of a hissing cat. Now while you do this, focus your eyes upwards to the middle eye area (kinda crossing.) You don't have to do this many times or for very long. Do it 2 or more times, as many times as you feel like.
You can, and are encouraged to practice the breathing any place any time (just the back of the neck breathing, the cat face isn't required at all times) regular practice promotes the development of courage. It is also said to help you find courage in times of stress and worry.
*** Courage, My Love has since moved, last I knew it had opened a new branch on Queen street. From the moment I walked into to this store when it was located in kensington market, i was on cloud nine. I was studying fashion design at the time and the designer here had completely captured my heart with her whimsical designs. After visiting the store half a dozen times, I finally recognised it! It was located in one of the old homes in Kennsington, the old home that a family friend had lived in when I was a very small girl. I stood in Courage, My Love and surveyed the show room, I saw they had ripped down the wall seperating the front ante room, and the stariway. I went back for a flicker, a second, i was 2 1/2 and I was learning how to play the combwith the aid of "rolly paper", now I was tasting my first coconut, and over there, I was curled up in my mom's arms.
